We have released a new version of wp-Member to encorporate the changes that were made within wordpress 2.8. wp-Member v2.3 also includes a number of bug fixes and general maintenence.

We have stepped up the development of wp-member and already have v2.4 and v2.5 currently being developed and tested.

We are also in the progress of migrating all current customers to a new licensing system. Our new system will encorporate all areas of ordering, support and licensings giving you one location for all your needs.

While testing wp-member (our WordPress Membership Plugin) we have came accross some quirky error messages. One of these is produced when comparing post revisions.

Here’s how you produce the error (please note, you do this at your own risk. When we have reproduced this error, it has not affected our blogs).

Step 1: Find a post with autosaves. At the bottom of the post while editing it, you will see “Revisions” click on one of the revisions.

Step 2: Click both bullet points on one line and click compare. In effect you are attempting to compare the same revision with its self.

Once you have clicked on compare, it will load a series of screens.

It would seem that this message has been present since at least v2.6.

Late in 2008 we were interviewed by Aldian Prakoso who was writing a book about monetizing a membership site easily using wordpress.

Why do you choose membership site as your business model?

The need arose from having content that needed to be distributed to separate levels of members as well as the need for a management system that would integrate user subscriptions and content management. To create a membership site, you really need good unique content so that users will signup. We designed wp-Member so that it would be almost a bare bones system giving the user the flexibility to streamline and suit almost every user management as well as content distribution needs.
Almost every large site develops a need to manage their users and have multiple membership levels, both paid and free. Another advantage to our membership system is that you can distribute seperate posts and pages to each membership level. This allows sites to have their advert banners within free members posts and pages, while paying members get to see the advert free posts and pages.

Advertising and promoting your website can be very expensive if you use the usual advertising methods.
