wp-Member v2.1 upgrade

If you are upgrading wp-Member from any previous version you should make sure that you read the following guide that will show you how you can upgrade without any errors.

Main Updates. We have been working on streamlining wp-member so that you can get the best from it. One of the major changes we have made is with the was errors are displayed. wp-Member v2.1 includes an error management system. This means that most errors that wp-member can display will be shown in the wp-admin side of your blog. None of your users should see any errors that wp-member may show.

  1. First you need to login to our license server here. Once logged in you should click on “view” next to your license.
  2. Look at the box next to “Hostname” where you should see your website domains. You need to check to see if any of your domains include the prefix “www.”, “http://” or “http://www.”. You should remove all prefixes so that if you have a single domain it would say “domain1.com”. If you have multiple domains, they should be listed like this “domain1.com,domain2.com”. As you can see with multiple domains, they are deperated by a comma with no spaces.
When you have edited your domain names you should click on the Update button. (if you do not have these prefixes and you do not need to change your domains you should do step # and skip step#)
  3. At the bottom of the screen you will see two downloads. One is for php4 and the other is for php5. You should check your hosting account to see what php version you are using. Download the correct version to your pc and unzip the contents.
  4. Connect to your website using ftp and navigate to the wp-content/plugins/wp-member folder and delete the file called “key.php”.
  5. Upload the contents of the wp-member folder you unzipped to the wp-member folder of your blog in binary mode.

Once uploaded, you should access the wp-admin section of your site to verify that there are no errors. If you have any errors, you should check the error here. If you can not find the error you are having here, you should contact our support department.

Quick question on the article above. What if 3 of the sites are all sub-domains. I expect that site1.mysite.com, site2.mysite.com, and site3.mysite.com all still need to get put in the hostname field, right?

Hello, that is correct. When entering multiple domains or subdomains into your license, you would enter them without http:// or www and would separate them with a comma with no spaces. For example: site1.mysite.com,site2.mysite.com,and site3.mysite.com.
