wp-Member v2.0 Released
We are proud to announce the release of wp-Member version 2.0.
Version 2 includes a number of fixes, some general tidying up of both the admin area and coding within files, reduced size due to reorganized ionCube loaders and a new registration styling.
The main new feature is an in house registration image management system. This is a similar system to the BM Custom Login plugin that we have been suggesting. A growing number of users were having problems with this plugins, so we brought the whole thing in house.
If you use BM Custom Login plugin, you should deactivate it and then take your login-bkg-tile.jpg from the images folder of your BM Custom Login plugin and download it to your pc and then upload it to your plugins/wp-member/images folder. Now when you login or when a user registers it will show this image. This will work better than BM Custom Login plugin because it will also theme your registration and subscription pages making the whole thing look a lot more sleek.
Mandatory Update
Version 2.0 is a mandatory update because we have re-located our licensing server. As such, wp-Member requires the new code to continue operating. We will be contacting all users well in advance of the old server being deactivated so that we can be sure everyone is using the new server.
PHP 4 & 5
We recommend that you upgrade your php to at least 5, however we have included a php 4 version for all those users who can not upgrade their php and their host is still using php4.
Upgrading
Upgrading your copy of wp-Member is easy. Simply click on the “My Account” icon in the sidebar to the right. Login to our licensing server. Click on “View” next to your license and then scroll to the bottom of the screen where you will see the available downloads.
Once you have downloaded wp-Member, you should extract it and upload the extracted files in binary mode to your wp-content/plugins/ folder overwriting existing files.
Uploading wp-member in any other mode will generate an error when you try to run wp-member. For full details on the error you would get and how to configure Filezilla and Cuteftp to upload in binary mode click here.
New Install
If you are about to install wp-Member for the first time you should follow the Activate and Install Guide here.
